Want to Become a Coach?

Volunteer parent and non-parent coaches are always in demand!

All SCB Coaches will receive Coach Education workshops free of charge (subject to conditions) for the level at which they are coaching.

The Active Start, Fundamentals, Learning To Train and Soccer For Life courses are designed to prepare coaches for working with players in a specific stage of development as outlined in the LTPD Model.  There are no pre-requisites to enter these “Community Stream” Workshops and contain no evaluation.

To coach at the “Tier 1” level it is preferred that individuals pursue training through higher level “Licensing Stream” Workshops beginning with the C-License.  Further details on the licensing stream can be found at https://www.soccerns.ca/coaches-2/overview/

The higher qualification a person has, the more likely they are to be appointed to coach a Select team.

Criminal Records Check

All coaches in the SCB system are required to complete and submit a Criminal Record Check Form each year before they will be appointed to coach a team.

Please note: This criminal record check letter must be taken in to the RCMP detachment in order to have a criminal record check completed for you.

Benefits for Coaches:

SCB will pay for coaching education, training or certification, with limitations and subject to future coaching commitment.

Soccer Cape Breton coaches will receive a stipend in March of each year, as compensation for their time and travel commitments throughout the program.

If coaches do not meet the requirements of the role, it may affect the amount of stipend they receive, and potentially their role with the program.

If the coach is required to travel outside of CBRM with the team he/she will receive compensations.

Coaches will also be supplied with an item of appropriate clothing for them to be easily recognised as a Soccer Cape Breton coach.
