CBFC U18AA GIRLS HOLD OPEN SESSIONS

CAPE BRETON FC U18AA Girls will this week hold two final Open Session practices as they seek players to complete their squad for the 2024 Nova Scotia Soccer League (NSSL) season.

The sessions will be held on Monday and Wednesday night as shown below with an experienced training and match day coaching staff assembled to guide this squad which is for players born in the birth years of 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Coaching will be overseen by CBFC Technical Director Iain King who holds a UEFA A Licence and Canada Soccer Youth and Children's licences.

Iain will mentor graduated U18AA Girls player Ayanna MacNeil, who is a Soccer for Life qualified coach and is this year part of the TELUS SheCanCoach program which is designed to bring more female Head Coaches into the game.

They will be joined at the weekly practices by Assistant Technical Director Kuvy Moodley, a Canadian C Licence holder and current B Licence candidate, and the experienced Damien Barry who is also U17AAA Girls Assistant Coach and a 2024 Canada Soccer C Licence candidate. Goalkeeping instruction will be provided by the club's Head Girls Goalkeeping Coach Kelsie Neville.

CBFC Technical Director Iain said: "We understand there are U18 girls players in the community who had felt registration was closed on this program but that is not the case.

"We must declare our roster to the NSSL by Friday April 26 and we are anxious to fill our final slots so the squad can be confirmed ahead of the start of league play on May 4.

"We look forward to welcoming all interested players to the field on Monday for a session and any parental questions on fees or what commitment is required in an NSSL program should be directed to myself on technicaldirector@soccercapebreton.com."
