PLAYERS SHOW TRUE COLOURS TO AID CBU STUDENTS FOOD BANK

SOCCER CAPE BRETON and Caper Academy players are ready to show their True Colours this holiday season - and help out our Cape Breton University students in the process.

From Saturday December 13 to Thursday December 18 players registered for our winter programs and their coaches and parents will for one week be allowed to ignore the rules of wearing their branded training gear.

Instead during True Colours they can wear their favourite jersey from ANY sport and rock it during practice.

Yet there has to be a price for the privilege! Ours is that each player must bring with them a bag/item of non-perishable foodstuffs.

These will be collected and distributed to the CBU Students’ Union Food Bank to help our dedicated body of students during a challenging time of year.

Soccer Cape Breton’s Regional Director of Development Iain King said: “The kids love their Minis, Skill Centre and #ForeverOrange training gear now but this is their chance to show us what jersey lies closest to their hearts - apart from ours of course!

“Club soccer, international jerseys, basketball, baseball, even hockey. We will be delighted to see the kids in their favourite OTHER shirt for one week only.

“For the privilege of breaking the rules for a week all we ask is they bring what they can in the way of non-perishable foods to help our CBU students at a tough time of year.

“In my life I’ve lived in Scotland, Toronto and Halifax and over the last two years people on this island have shown me they have bigger hearts than them all and a true sense of community.

“Let’s have some fun in the final week of practice in 2025, show your True Colours and help out our next generation of difference makers.”

The Soccer Cape Breton initiative will begin on Saturday December 13 with the Minis and Skill Centre players and run through the week with all Capers Academy sessions involved.
