SAM AND COLE OFF TO A FLYER AT MOUNT MYSTICS

Sep. 15, 2025

CAPERS Academy alumni Samantha Chauder and Cole Hutchison-Mills have landed Athletes of the Week awards as they shine early on in their Varsity soccer careers with the Mount St Vincent University Mystics.

Striker Sam, voted in the Academy's Girls Team of the Year for 2025 this summer, had an outstanding debut weekend for the Mystics scoring in the 2-1 win at Holland College before starring again and finding the net once more in the 5-0 home triumph over the Dal Rams the following day.

Her Head Coach Jenna Blackburn said of he new recruit: “Samantha was an outstanding player for the Mystics on the opening weekend, making a remarkable impact in the team’s opening matches as a first-year player.

"Starting in both games against Holland College and DALAC, Samantha showcased her versatility and skill, playing both as a striker and winger. Her ability to get on the ball and find space was key in creating multiple scoring opportunities, putting pressure on the opponents' back lines from the outset.

"Samantha was relentless in her play, using her pace to take on defenders 1v1. She produced quality crosses that led to several scoring opportunities for her teammates and also found the back of the net in both games, scoring one goal in each match and helping propel the Mystics to two important victories.”

Meanwhile, as Glace Bay native and BSc Applied Human Nutrition student Chauder was making headlines for the Mystics Women's side Sydney's Cole Hutchison-Mills was also a stand-out for the Men's program now under the guidance of Halifax City Executive Director Kieran Collins.

BSc student Cole, whose twin brother Noah has also jointed the Mystics program, inspired his side to a 4-2 win over the Dal Rams after they has been edged 1-0 at Holland College in their opener.

Noah was on target from the spot in that triumph but it was Cole who stole the show in the eyes of Head Coach Collins who said: “Cole had a great debut weekend with the Mystics, recording three assists against the Dalhousie Rams in the second half and playing 180 minutes across both matches. He made an immediate impact with the team both with and without the ball, showing he has much to offer in the ACAA.”

Sam, Cole and Noah are part of the 2025 graduating class from the CAPERS Academy with the Technical Staff now working hard on helping our 2026 alumni continue the superb tradition of the island producing quality soccer players and people for Varsity programs throughout the province.
