HEAVY MEDAL FANS! Sadie Delorey (left) and Ava MacDonald with their Bronze awards after a shootout win over Alberta in Newfoundland.
CAPERS Academy U17AAA Girls players Ava MacDonald and Sadie Delorey have returned from their adventure with Team Nova Scotia at the 2025 Canada Games in St John's, Newfoundland, with bronze medals proudly in their grasp.
We reported how striker Ava scored just 36 SECONDS into her Games debut in a 7-0 win over Yukon, a match that also saw goalkeeper Sadie make her bow in the tournament.
Team NS then won a crunch game against New Brunswick 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw to advance to the semi-finals.
They would lose narrowly 1-0 to Quebec in the last four but recovered to tie 0-0 with Alberta in the Bronze Medal match and again win a shootout this time by 4-1.
CAPERS Academy are hugely proud of the girls' achievements and we salute the dedication that saw them reach these heights to proudly wear our Province's colours.
Ava's achievement was heightened in the wake of the tournament as she was named in the Canada Games Second Team All-Star 11!
