SOCCER CAPE BRETON Girls Academy Week is in the books and the Class of 25 made it one to remember.
These camp weeks are often where the next generation of soccer stars on the island begin and this year was no different.
In the younger squad the girls all shone with terrific displays from Mia Harbis and Sydney Forward one of many highlights for the Technical Staff as they showed excellent skill levels for 2015-born players.
This summer also sees the process begin to find the 2026 U13AA CAPERS Academy squad and 2013 prospect Adele Aikens won the prize for that category.
All of the girls who enjoyed their week were in the pink over five great days of soccer learning and laughs that culminated in the famous Friday 4 v 4 World Cup.
The winners, somewhat unrealistically? Scotland! Although this choice of country did delight Regional Director of Soccer Development Iain King...
Well done to Victoria County prospect Simone Pinnington, the Kelloway sisters Claire and Avery and Alyssa Murchison for a superb display as they edged out Brazil 3-2 in the dramatic Final. Academy Boys week is July 21-25 and we still have a few slots left. Look out for registration details over the weekend.
* THE FUTURE IS BRIGHT PINK!...(left to right) our picture shows current CBU CAPERS Varsity player Elle MacDougall, the U18AA Girls NSSL co-Head Coach, with Mia Harbis, Adele Aikens, Sydney Forward and CAPERS U17AAA Girls and Canada Games squad member Alyse Tierney. The young CAPERS loved having these role models coaching them all week!
