"Some people believe football is a matter of life and death,
I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that."

Soccer Cape Breton have designed a new winter & spring program to help develop our players in the off season.
Starting in 2011 competitive indoor leagues were created for the following ages during the winter period:
Every player represents the club they live closest too with a club coach being assigned and you practicing once a week and have a game once a week for sixteen weeks. We are hoping to grow this league with having all the local clubs being represented.
Click here for official league website where you can find scores, schedules and league tables.
Spring Update
Starting in the upcoming spring season all ages and genders will pilot Futsal. Futsal is the official FIFA version of indoor 5 a side soccer.
The fast flow of Futsal enables young players to improvise, be creative and use individual skills such as ball control. It doesnt allow for kick and run tactics as the playing area is too small and too crowded. It requires players to think and act quickly many times over on the Futsal court, often only having enough time for one touch.
This will operate slightly different to the longer winter season with players registering and put on a random side of 8-10 players and receiving one game a week.
Soccer Cape Breton offer a competitve senior mens and womens league where teams receive 24 games over the months of December through to April.
The format is a 7-aside game with two officials on the field to enforce offsides.
Players can register as a team or as an individual.
*No news on a spring program for the seniors at present.
Click here for offical league webstie where you can find scores, schedules and league tables.
Regional Training Center
The Program
Under the Direction of Soccer Nova Scotias Technical Department, Regional Training Centers have been established in six centers across the province. The aim of these programs is to develop both players and coaches at the regional level. The regional Training Center Program also provides consistent development for selected U12 players, with an aim of transferring its beneficial effects to clubs, districts and provincial teams. The program also aids in the identification and selection process of players for the 2012/13 Under 13 Soccer Nova Scotia Provincial Team.
Age Groups
The targeted age group for optimum delivery of this program is the under 12 boys and girls (Born: 2000 and 2001) Approximately 20 players per age group. However, Regional Head Coaches will have the ability to add younger or additional players where they feel appropriate.
Duration of Program
The program involves thirty sessions (twice each week) and starts in early November and ends in April. Over the course of the program the Director of Coaching and Player Development of Soccer Nova Scotia will visit each Regional Training Center to provide feedback on the players and coaches involved. At the conclusion of the 20 sessions in April each player will receive a detailed evaluation based on their performance within the program. On March 25th 2012 the program will conclude with a tournament tentatively scheduled for the Halifax region for those players SELECTED from the Regional Training Center groups by their RTC Head Coach .
